Tonight, I’m going to dissect the Seahawks backfield and look at one prop play for each of Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny.

Tonight’s Picks

  1. Rashaad Penny Under 34.5 rushing yards [Game type: Over / Under]
  2. Chris Carson (+0.5) > Todd Gurley, fantasy points [Game type: Rapidfire]

The Pick

Rashaad Penny Under 34.5 rushing yards

Penny is returning from a hamstring injury after a missing last week. Although he was a first-round draft pick, he is behind Chris Carson on the depth chart. Carson has dealt with fumbling problems through the first few weeks, but the Seahawks were vocal in their commitment to Carson for last week’s game against the Cardinals, leading to 22 carries for 104 yards and four catches on as many targets for 41 yards.

I don’t see Penny going over 34.5 rushing yards coming back from injury as the backup RB.

  • Projected for under 25 yards by PFF and 4for4
  • Averages 6.7 carries per game
  • Projected for under 6 carries
  • Averages 4.9 YPC
  • Rams allow only 4.5 YPC

The Pick

Chris Carson +0.5  > Todd Gurley, Fantasy Points

Everywhere I look, Carson is projected to have more fantasy points than Gurley. This being a short week, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Rams limit him even more.

If these two backs finish within half a point of each other, the pick wins. If their production plays out as projected, we also win.

  • Carson averaging 1.3 more PPG than Gurley this season
  • Carson projected 2-3 points higher by DailyRoto and FantasyCruncher optimizers
  • Wrong player favored on the Monkey Knife Fight prop

Picks Recap

  1. Rashaad Penny u34.5 rushing yards [Over / Under]
  2. Chris Carson (+0.5) fantasy points vs Todd Gurley [Rapidfire]

Bonus Leans:

As with most island games, I’m leaning towards unders. These teams put up plenty of points last year, but these numbers are all a bit higher than their projections.

Russell Wilson’s MKF prop is closest to his projection, but we know that Seattle would prefer to run the ball.

Jared Goff has some ugly home/road splits in terms of his yardage and fantasy points, so I like unders any time he is on the road.

Tyler Lockett has done well against the Rams, but his high-ceiling performances bring up his average. His average is only 14.7 and he’s only passed 18.5 in four of his last 20 games.

The Leans:

  1. Russell Wilson Under 22.5 fantasy points
  2. Jared Goff Under 20.5 fantasy points
  3. Tyler Lockett Under 18.5 fantasy points
  4. Jared Goff Under 280.5 passing yards (not pictured)
